So here I am in NYC! Arrived late at LGA after we had a lady get pretty ill on the plane and get taken out by the EMT's as soon as we landed. The good news was she was OK and we did not land in Cleveland or somewhere in between.
As we made our way in to town from the airport we hit one heck of an accident on FDR Drive, which runs along the East River. There were multiple cars in this northbound mess. Glad we went in to town!
Just back from a place called the Blue Room, that had some pretty awesome wings. By New York standards I got out of there for a song. Less than $25 for dinner and a couple of beers. That is a real bargain.
New gal Jenny started tonight and was learning the ropes, while the barmaid who came here at 19 and 1/2 from Sweden worked the room. Typical New York place, but the ambiance was good and the food excellent by bar standards. Prior to that I walked the the town and saw more nail salons than I thought I would ever see. that plus pizza places, stores and shops of all sizes. NYC is non stop noise and hustle and bustle. There really is no place like it anywhere I have been in the world. Tokyo seems
During the walk about, I came across a really beat up Trek. I love the rear tire and the fact that they would chain this up anyway. After all, it "IS" a Trek!
Also got over to the area near the of Plaza Hotel. Under renovation to become condos and a hotel. Trump owns it and this bamboo tree (pix at the bottom of post) is in an atrium is part of the Trump Tower that adjoins Niketown, NYC.
The Christmas tree was in some office plaza but looked cool and worth a digital snap!
Not sure how far I walked but I was on foot for at least an hour or more.
Prior to all this was calls at Paragon Sports with buyer Jim Laros. I learned big time that I was not in the Midwest. Jim was awesome and helpful. Lots of good things we can do with and for him in the future. Paragon is a pretty cool place for sporting goods. Their on-line biz is growing by leaps and bounds according to Jim.
Then it was over to Soho situated Bicycle Habitat. Got to meet Charlie McCorkle and crew. Neat shop that has doubled in size in the past year. Lots of Trek and Specialized stuff to get everyone excited about biking.
